Public Safety Officer

The Ohio Wesleyan University Department of Public Safety is searching for a full-time ( 40 hours per week ), qualified individual interested in working in a challenging and diverse community environment as a Public Safety Officer. The successful candidate must be a least twenty – one ( 21 ) years of age, have a valid drivers’ license, a high school diploma, or equivalent, and possess strong interpersonal skills. Preferred qualifications would be experience in a college setting and experience in a security/police work environment or state certification in OPOTA. The applicant must be willing to submit to a background investigation. The current opening will involve evening and night shift, with varying hours and days off. Public Safety officers are subject to overtime and call-in responsibilities and may be required to continue working beyond a regular shift, on regularly scheduled days off and/or additional hours and special events. The starting wage will be $11.50 per hour.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age
  • Have a Valid Ohio Drivers License
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Good communications skills
  • Good writing skills
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills
  • Prefer experience working in a college environment
  • Prefer experience in a security/police work or state certification in OPOTA
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigatory report (i.e. no convictions that would conflict with duties)
