Assistant Professor of Music (Music Theory) – Tenure Track

This position will begin August 21, 2008.

Duties: Teach music theory four-semester sequence (two units per semester); teach 18th Century Counterpoint and Analysis (one semester each, in alternate years); other related courses to be determined in area of expertise, such as electronic music and applied composition, an applied area, or new courses.

Qualifications:  Doctorate in music theory or composition required (ABD accepted if completed by starting date); ability to teach undergraduate courses in music theory (including ear-training); expertise in music technology and/or composition; preference given to candidates with college/university teaching experience.
