Assistant Men’s and Women's Diving Coach

Ohio Wesleyan University invites applications for the position of Assistant Men and Women’s Diving Coach. This is a nine-month part-time position. The Assistant Coach assists the Head Coach for Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving with the organization, development and implementation of a NCAA Division III intercollegiate Varsity Diving program. Ohio Wesleyan University has a newly opened Aquatics Center and is looking for the right candidate to further develop the diving program.

Responsibilities:

Assistant Coach Duties include:

  • Develop and implement seasonal training plans including dry-land, strength & condition, and day-to-day on deck coaching;
  • Work directly with student-athletes on academic and personal goal;
  • Help arrange logistics of home and away meets, team travel and meals;
  • Inventory, order and manage team equipment needs within team budgets;
  • Monitor academic progress of scholar-athletes and support student athletes in their full academic development;
  • Participate in fund raising and public relations activities;
  • Develop and maintain effective interaction with students, colleagues, university staff, alumni and the general public.
  • Enforcement of team rules; and
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the head coach.

This position will function in accordance with NCAA regulations, North Coast Athletic Conference regulations, OWU policies and the requirements of the State of Ohio.

Qualifications:

Qualifications for the position include a Bachelor’s Degree required with a Master’s degree in physical education or a related field preferred. The successful candidate must have demonstrated coaching/recruiting experience and/or relevant competitive experience at the collegiate or high school level. Candidates should also possess an understanding of the role physical education and athletics play in a rigorous academic setting and have an ability to identify and attract outstanding students to the University.Candidates must have a commitment to and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of Ohio Wesleyan University and the NCAA. Strong interpersonal abilities with excellent oral and written communications skills are also required for this position.
