Associate Director of the Ohio Wesleyan Fund

Ohio Wesleyan University is searching for an Associate Director of the Ohio Wesleyan Fund. Reporting to the Annual Giving Director, and partnering with the University Relations staff, the Associate Director is responsible for the personal cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of leadership annual gifts ($1,842+), the formation and execution of all communication and solicitation strategies for current and past Ohio Wesleyan University parents for the Parents Fund and will provide leadership over the Golden year reunion classes (50th+).

Specific Responsibilities Include

  • Solicits leadership annual gifts of $1,842+.
  • Conducts, at a minimum, 100+ solicitation visits annually with University prospects, volunteers and donors (approximately 50% of time).
  • Effectively communicates results of personal visits to appropriate personnel and documents all communication with donors and prospects in the University database system.
  • Establishes and maintains Ohio Wesleyan Fund giving clubs, including administration of the 1842 Society, and associated benefits and recognition included but not limited to printed gratitude, tokens of appreciations, invitations to special events and personal communications with University leadership.
  • Refines existing and creates new parent prospect programming during University events such as Orientation, Family Weekend, and Commencement, as well as other athletic, music, and theater events.
  • In coordination with fellow Ohio Wesleyan Fund staff, designs and manages current and past parent phonathon campaigns and direct-mail pieces, including but not limited to recruitment of parent volunteer callers and authors, drafting of parent specific phone scripts, writing and designing of direct mail content and design of email communications that focuses on information of interest for parents.
  • Oversees the recruitment, training, motivation, and management of fundraising volunteers for post 50th reunion year efforts with planned giving staff as needed. Develops fundraising goals and strategies to realize both leadership reunion gifts and extensive reunion class participation.
  • Provides information and assistance to reunion volunteers to support their ability to proceed with recruitment, solicitations, and other assignments. Follow up with volunteers to ensure completion of assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintains a high level of phone activity for the purpose of cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of Ohio Wesleyan Fund prospects of gifts $999 and below as assigned by the Ohio Wesleyan Fund Director.

QualificationsQualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and a minimum of three (3) years of fundraising experience, preferably in the field of higher education in which at least one (1) year included personal solicitation of donors or management of parent outreach. Other qualifications include: the ability to travel for personal solicitation and to attend regional events and to work occasionally on weekends and evenings, organize and work with volunteers, strong computer skills, attention to detail, ability to take initiative, excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and a valid drivers' license.
