![]() Job Posting Associate Director and Head of Public Services We invite applications for: Associate Director and Head of Public Services – This is a continuing, full-time, 12-month position. The Associate Director and Head of Public Services serves as the manager for all library public service operations in the OWU Library System at Ohio Wesleyan University. The person we seek must be an innovative, creative, collaborative, and energetic leader with a strong commitment to customer service, reference, information literacy, collection development, and digital initiatives. Responsibilities: Ensures the overall effectiveness of 3 libraries: Beeghly Library (main branch) and the science and music libraries. Oversees reference/instruction; circulation; interlibrary loan; government documents; special collections; audio-visual; digital initiatives; the liaison librarians, and information commons and café. Will have direct management responsibility for 21 public services staff, including recruitment, orientation, staff development, and performance reviews. Reports to the Director of Libraries and assists with planning and administrative projects for the libraries. Represents the Libraries in consortia and serves as an active participant in the college community. The Associate Director is 1 of 2 managers in the Libraries. Required Qualifications: He/she must have an ALA-accredited MLS; second master’s in another discipline is desired; and have a minimum of five years progressively responsible experience in academic libraries, including extensive expertise with information literacy. Candidates must have strong leadership and supervisory experience. Other key skills include consortial experience, the ability to form a strong rapport with faculty and students, mentoring, planning, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), and possesses a record of participation in library national professional associations. Preferred Qualification: A degree in philosophy, psychology, religion, or sociology for liaison work. Salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
